When three-year-old Ava was asked what her house would be named, she proclaimed: Princess – we thought that was an excellent idea. A home that embodies the importance of connecting family life in ways that they could delight in their time spent together.
The Princess of Frances looks for nature to be the revered central element in this modest and sustainable palace. The form of the house is taken from the program within – by connecting the two storey portion of the house with the height of main ‘public’ spine of the house, a geometry has emerged that is at one time roof and at another, wall. These connecting elements help to define the volumes of the house and challenge the traditional notion of where/how materials are used.
