Monica Adair, Architect, LEED AP

Monica is a partner at the Acre and a licensed architect in New Brunswick.  She holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Toronto.

After graduation Monica worked for Plant Architect in Toronto and Skidmore Owings & Merrill in New York prior to returning to her hometown of Saint John and working with Murdock & Boyd Architects.  At Murdock & Boyd, she was project architect for the E&P Senechal Center. She also worked on the design of an elementary school renovation with Stephen Kopp both projects which won the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Excellence in Architecture in New Brunswick in their respective years.

Monica and her partner Stephen Kopp won a National Public Art Competition for their work in transit for a Public Transit Terminal. They are also the co-founders of an art & design group known as the acre collective that was selected as one of Canada’s top emerging firms in Canada for Twenty + Change. Recently, Acre Architects was awarded the same honour.
Monica & Stephen were also the recipients of the Sheff Visiting Chair in Architecture at McGill University School of Architecture in Montreal, where they were awarded the Sheff award for part-time teaching.

Selected to be part of ‘Team Canada’ for the project ‘Why NB?’, Monica will be participating in the Canadian Pavillion for the 2012 Architecture Venice Biennale.
