Stephen Kopp, Monica Adair, John Leroux, Jessie Croll and Alicia Halas of Acre Architects have been selected as a regional winner for the Maritimes Migrating Landscapes competition in Halifax……YES! The project will now move on to the national competition in Winnipeg this March and have a chance to represent Canada as part of the Venice Biennale in Architecture in August. Thanks to the team for all the hard work and great dialogue.

GLORIOUS LIGHT BOOK LAUNCH
When Acre associate John Leroux isn’t designing, he’s writing. John launched his new book, Glorious Light: The Stained Glass of Fredericton on November 3rd at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery in Fredericton. Published by Gaspereau Press, it is filled with full colour photographs and is unique in Canada as it is the first comprehensive study of any Canadian city’s stained glass heritage. As photographer and author, John also curated and designed a corresponding exhibition at the gallery that can be viewed until January 8, 2012.

After two days of interviews in Miramichi last weekend, Stephen was accepted in to the Entrepreneurial Leaders Program of the Wallace McCain Institute at the University of New Brunswick (ELP4).

Leroux guest critic at BRAC University….in Dhaka
No, that is not a typo – Acre Architects Associate, Architect John Leroux has been invited to be a critic tomorrow at BRAC University in Bangladesh for 5th year Architectural students! John happens to be the provincial expert on the topic having written the book: Building New Brunswick: An Architectural History published by Goose Lane Editions, 2008. John is in ‘town’ writing an article for Canadian Architect.

Majumder Manor is a 12 part documentary series, following the build of a 5 star boutique eco-lux inn in the tiny town of Burlington, Newfoundland Canada. The show will be airing on the W network in Canada and features Actor/Comedian Shaun Majumder.
