Nicholas Desbiens AIA, LEED AP is an architect and designer based in Brooklyn, NY. Passionate about the potential of new design methodologies and concomitant ways of thinking to transform our emotional, experiential and intellectual lives, he founded Desbiens Design Research as an incubator for new ideas.
Nicholas has spent the past six years as a project architect, computational designer and fabrication specialist at Caliper Studio, an architecture office and metal shop in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Over the years, Caliper Studio has earned a reputation for design excellence as members of a new generation of architects/fabricators “changing how architecture is practiced.” Nicholas has spearheaded the firm’s ongoing investigation into contemporary generative computational techniques and has lead the design and research effort on many of Caliper Studio’s most innovative projects. His design work at Caliper Studio has been featured in Architectural Record, the Architect’s Newspaper and the Wall Street Journal.

Along with designing the Genetic Stair, Nick also gives killer wedding speeches.
